Slasher Bob's Horror Hoedown is intended to be more than just another database of horror movies, horror news and horror blogging. Slasher Bob is an excuse to make scary things of my own.

The first goal was to create some horror trading cards, based on my love for the vintage movie cards of the 70s and 80s. And of course, considering it was time to reclaim my throne as zombie porn king of the internet, the disturbingly erotic roadkill on the side of the information superhighway would be mine again.

In 2002 the first incarnation of the Mental Shed grew to fame by my zombified porn art. Hardcore zombie pin up erotica. The Mental Shed was the only source of zombie porn on the entire internet back then. It was my drive to create zombie porn and bring it to the masses that accidentally caused me to become a web and graphic designer.

So I'm just sitting here. Writing. Minding my own business. Researching.

When suddenly google takes me on a wrong turn deep into the collective human psyche and the land of things you can never un-know which will only serve to fester in your nervous system until nothing less than complete shutdown occurs.

I'm writing. I have a question I need answered. I move the pointer up into that convenient little Google search box. I get as far as typing "why" when suddenly a drop down box drops down into my personal destiny and forever ruins any hope of a normal life in the future.

After many long years of working online things like tubgirl and goatse and even that video where the guy sticks the glass bottle up his ass until it breaks and blood starts pouring out are just understood as the way of things. It's like the birds flying south for the winter. As natural as the change of seasons.

But the questions google dropped down as possible suggestions to complete my query based on commonly searched phrases...the fact that THESE are the questions plaguing humanity...this is disturbing.

Like...reevaluate your views on the purpose and meaning of life kind of disturbing.

So of course I have to share them with you - the poor soul who probably accidentally stumbled onto this searching for how to give blue balls, pictures of deformed breasts and genitals, japscat, or amputee pornography.

I'm scarred for life. Might as well drag you down with me.

So without further delay, the question most plaguing mankind today is:

Why do men have nipples?

That's right - after all these thousands of years of human existence, we still can't figure out why men have nipples, and apparently it;s bugging the shit out of us.

The questions most commonly searched by humanity are:

Why is the sky blue?

Why is my poop green?

Why does my vag smell?

Why do cats purr?

Why did I get married too?

Why do dogs eat poop?

Why can't I own a Canadian?

And last but not least:

Why did the chicken cross the road?

I'm not making this up. You can't fabricate this kind of global ignorance.

Now, I'm not saying I know these answers. As a matter of fact, I too would like to know why my vag smells and why I can't own a Canadian who poops green.

But my point is, with all of this endless information at our fingertips, powered by the massive database of world domination and resources that is Google...don't we have something better to ask?

Does each successive human generation really have to go through the astonishment that men have nipples, which seem to serve no purpose? This is surefire proof that Carl Jung's theory of the collective unconscious is just plain bullshit. Thousands of years, tens of thousands of generations of mankind...and we're still dumbfounded by this nipple thing.

No, the human psyche does not autonomously organize experience.

Jung believed this was why people were instinctively afraid of things. Thousands of years of experienced cataloged in the human subconscious tell us that snakes are poisonous so we should fear them.

But we still don't know why our vag smells? How long have women been dealing with those? Your ancestors didn't leave any notes on this one for you? Nothing about green poop or slavery or dogs eating poop or nipples on men scrawled on your nervous system?

And, of all things, we should be writing this down for all future generations and locked inside every possible time capsule, shot into space, tattooed on babies, whatever needs to be done to preserve this knowledge:

Why did the chicken cross the road?

Why?

Because of Darwin's natural selection, that's why.

Gang In Peru Killing People For Their Fat

LIMA, Peru — A gang in the remote Peruvian jungle has been killing people for their fat, police charged Thursday, draining it from their corpses and offering it on the black market for use in cosmetics. Medical experts expressed skepticism that a major market for fat might exist.

Three suspects have confessed to killing five people for their fat, said Col. Jorge Mejia, chief of Peru's anti-kidnapping police. He said the suspects, two of whom were arrested carrying bottles of liquid fat, told police it was worth $60,000 a gallon ($15,000 a liter).

Mejia said the suspects told police the fat was sold to intermediaries in Lima, the Peruvian capital. While police suspect the fat was sold to cosmetic companies in Europe, he could not confirm any sales.

Medical experts expressed doubt about an international black market for human fat, though it does have cosmetic applications. Yale University dermatology professor Dr. Lisa Donofrio speculated that a small market may exist for "human fat extracts" to keep skin supple, though scientifically such treatments are "pure baloney."

At a news conference, police showed reporters two bottles of fat recovered from the suspects and a photo of the rotting head of a 27-year-old male victim. Suspect Elmer Segundo Castillejos, 29, led police to the head, recovered in a coca-growing valley last month, Mejia said.

Mejia said Castillejos confessed that the gang would cut off its victims' heads, arms and legs, remove the organs, then suspend the torsos from hooks above candles that warmed the flesh as the fat dripped into tubs below.

Six members of the gang remain at large, Mejia said, adding that in addition to the five killings the suspects confessed to, the gang may be involved in dozens more. Castillejos told police that the band's fugitive leader, 56-year-old Hilario Cudena, has been killing to extract fat from victims for more than three decades.

At least 60 people are listed as missing in Huanuco province, where the gang allegedly operated, this year alone, though the province is also home to drug-trafficking leftist rebels.

Mejia said police received a tip four months ago that human fat from the jungle was being sold in Lima. In August, he said, police infiltrated the band and later obtained some of the amber fluid, which a police lab confirmed as human fat.

On Nov. 3, police arrested Serapio Marcos Veramendi and Enedina Estela in a Lima bus station with a quart (a liter) of human fat in a soda bottle. Their testimony led to the arrest of Castillejos three days later at the same bus station.

The three are charged with homicide, criminal conspiracy, illegal firearms possession and drug trafficking, according to a statement from Lima Superior Court. Police said they were searching for the alleged buyer.

Police named the band the "Pishtacos" after a Peruvian myth dating to pre-Columbian times of men who killed to extract human fat, quartering their victims with machetes.

Mejia said Castillejos claimed his was not the only gang engaged in such killings.

Medical authorities reached by The Associated Press said human fat is used in anti-wrinkle treatments – but is always extracted from the patient being treated, usually from the stomach or buttocks.

"There would be a risk of immunological reaction that could lead to life-threatening consequences" if fat from someone else were used, said Dr. Neil Sadick, a professor of dermatology at Cornell Weill Medical College in New York.

Dr. Adam Katz, a professor of plastic surgery at the University of Virginia medical school, was incredulous when told about the Peruvian ring.

"I can't see why there would be a black market for fat," he said. "It doesn't make any sense at all because in most countries we can get fat so readily and in such amounts from people who are willing and ready to donate that I don't see why there would ever be a black market for fat, of all tissues."

The history of the Mental Shed has always been fraught with weirdness. But I just looked up the recent traffic stats for this here Mental Shed blog and found a few disturbing search engine terms that are leading people here:

1. How to give blue balls

In the Shed's entire sordid existence, I don't think anyone ever arrived at any Shed-related site by looking for how to give blue balls. They maybe came to relieve blue balls, but never how to give it. That's cruel. Just sick and wrong.

3. Deformed breasts

These two are more like what I'm used to seeing. As a matter of fact, the Mental Shed became known for serving up many pictures of deformed breasts and genitals, as well as the internet's first zombie porn.

Today is a sad day in the grand digital history of me.

My first website, the beginning of the whole inbred Mental Shed lineage, will vanish from the internet on October 26th, 2009 when the filthy internet ghetto that is Geocities finally closes it's doors.

I had used Geocities as a drag-and-drop WYSIWYG site builder before this in my early experimenting, but Liquid Blue was the one I learned to hand-code HTML on. It was the site that, despite my hatred for computers and internet at the time, taught me that you could make money online by posting humiliating pictures of deformed breasts and that there was a secret erotic world of missing body parts to be had online. A digital nirvana, if you will.

It taught me that the key to success was the exploitation of the lowest common denominator, and lead me to fulfill my childhood dream of being an unemployed slob making bank on the Olympic-sized money shots of faceless male genitalia into the crack-glazed eyes of countless female psyciatric cases.

It was the beginning of many long years of sleepless nights basking in the noxious glow of my monitor, bringing to life the latest of my self-depreciating rants to unleash upon the unsuspecting zombie porn connoisseur.

It was the very start of my hopeless decent into hell, of my desperate plea for a reason to unplug.

In short...it ruined my life.

Yay!

It's crazy how the internet and technology in general has changed since then. The requirements for viewing Liquid Blue back in 2002 were: a modem, javascript-enabled, internet explorer 5.5-6.0 and best viewed at the standard resolution of 800x600 pixels.

Not too mention, there are still banner ads from the very first affiliate program I ever signed up for, selling mod chips for playstations.

I made twelve cents.

Never saw it.

And at the bottom of every page I so eloquently included:

Oh the memories. The endless wasted hours of my youth which can never be returned. The exciting things I could have done if I wasn't memorizing markup tags in the middle of the night. The amazing sex I could have had if I wasn't blowing my wife off to work on the website that ultimately landed me a $50 million dollar lawsuit and permanent acid reflux and other assorted disorders from years of severe sleep deprivation.

Of course the life of a digital porn peddler had a few glorious moments that made it meaningful at the time:

Not many can say they recieved Cease And Desist letters from the lawyers of so many celebrities.

I pirated my first copy of photoshop so I could learn how to make zombie porn. In it's day, the Mental Shed was the only website where you could find it. Now I am accidentally a digital artist/graphic designer by way of zombie porn.

The Mental Shed was within the top three rankings on every search engine for the term "Paris Hilton Sex Tape" the day the news hit the media, which generated shitloads of cash and recurring sales that continued to bring checks in the mail daily for years to come.

The day it happened, search engine traffic hit the Mental Shed so hard it blew the server. For 72 hours I was awake and at the helm, making sure the site was up, stayed up, and providing the clearest, most direct link to filling my wallet. I was viagra and the internet was my bitch.

It seems notable now, in the wake of my utter failure as a human being, that the day Paris Hilton filled my pockets (and subsequently ruined the internet forever) I had started the first class toward getting my GED.

I blew it off so I could keep the site up.

I still don't have it, and I now have less time and am more unemployed than ever before.

Once again, thank you internet.

And one day when I'm old I'll look back with a fond nostalgia on the the thousands of hours I spent alone and lonely, using free AOL discs from Wal-Mart to get online and maintain what has already been forgotten and will soon cease to exist altogether.

I can taste the bitter pixelated irony already.

Yes, back then, before the glossy social media networks of Web 2.0, the internet was still raw and untamed, a virtual Wild West. And in the grand scheme of things the Mental Shed was one hell of an outhouse before it's rickety walls collapsed while the builder was taking a shit.

The Internet Archive, or more specifically, the depressingly titled "Wayback Machine," still contains somewhat preserved copies of the Mental Shed dating from sometime after I purchased and set up mentalshed.com

Those archives will hopefully last a little longer, though the final 2007 entries do nothing more than document how the site appeared after I forgot to renew the domain on time, the registrar reclaimed it fifteen days early, and decided to charge me an arm and a leg (I wasn't into amputee porn anymore by this point, so I didn't find it humorous at all) due to it's value, and instantly severed the umbelical cord between me and my income.

One day I'll collect all the text I ever posted to my site to compile into a book that will probably only collect dust on the print-on-demand shelves of vanity publishing sites. I'll call it "Diary of an Amputee Porn Fiend" or "Screaming At My Genitals: The Rise and Fall of A Washed-Up Internet Pervert."

Gone are the days where Goatse, Tubgirl, japscat, and amputee pornography ruled the world wide web, and with them my self-esteem, dignity, and captivated attention.

But at least I managed to save this old 88x31 link button I made before Geocities goes the way of my manhood:

- Most websites that weren't large corporate portals were independently operated by one person with something to say. This was called an E/N site, which stood for Everything/Nothing.

Remember those? Of course not. Paris Hilton personally pounded the nails into that coffin.

E/N consisted mostly of random rants and words linked to dirty/strange/entertaining pictures and videos stolen from other E/N sites.

These sites were generally supported by adult affiliate programs. Dirty dirty porn money.

- BLOG: It is a common word these days, and an even more common style of website. It is now known as a shortened version of WEBLOG. Back then, it was called a "boring log" because it was the chosen format for many camgirls (yes, they were REAL AMATEUR GIRLS in their bedrooms back then) to drone on about their daily lives before begging their middle-aged viewers to buy them stuff from their amazon wishlists.

So remember kids: wrap it before you smack it, Paris Hilton is a stupid, internet-murdering, lame sex tape-making attention whore. And for fucksake get off the internet, kill your computer, and run screaming into the wilderness.

In Vino Veritas

Anything to do with wine always comes with a pretentious connotation. People pay hundred or thousands of dollars to let bottles collect dust. Counterfeits of vintage wines have sold for hundreds of thousands.

At tastings they examine the color, swirl it around in the glass, smell it, sip it, savor it. This is properly known as Wine Degustation. That doesn't make it sound much better.

Obviously, making wine is a delicate artform, but just like other works of art, most of the interest in it comes from the hefty price tag that makes it pretty much exclusive to the wealthy and prestigious. I think the Mona Lisa is fucking hideous, but still it sits untouched in a case full of electronics so sensitive it can detect swelling of the wood the ugly bitch is painted on at one eigth the width of a human hair.

So you can't enjoy wine without feeling a little self-loathing at the snobbishness of it all.

UNLESS...you follow these simple steps:

Get a cheap wine. It will make everything just as blurry and tingly as the expensive shit. I prefer wines from the psychoses-ladden soils of Wisconsin where I come from. Door county wine is good, and generally under twelve bucks. And the cork won't crumble and fall in. For something a little different try the cranberry. It's good shit.

Now all you have to do is chug it from the bottle. The moment you put it in a glass you're a pretentious little bitch. I am a strong believer in drinking booze right out of the bottle. Whiskeys, bottom-shelf vodkas, blackberry brandies...mixing them or transplanting them is just plain blasphemy.

Plus, the drunker you get the more challenging it is to not break the bottle. Keeps it interesting. Especially if the bottle does get broken and there are shards of glass in a room full of other drunk people. And the contents of the bottle have spilled out and you run around pissed off accusing every innocent bystander of drinking it.

Anyway, the bottle is equally as important and artistic as the wine, so why seperate them? Who gives a fuck if the wine is light, medium, or full-bodied? If that is what you're drinking it for then you need a new hobby.

Wine, just like every other liquor, was intended for running away from problems and getting laid. It is instrumental in making porn, accidental suicide, and anal sex. If you are using it for any other reason, you may have a problem. Don't worry, there is help out there. You are not alone.

IMPORTANT

Most comp discs cost money to be included. This is a digital comp, and it is free to be included, and free to download. When it is released, participating bands could post a blog, bulletin, or link/banner for it, but no money is involved.

The strange videos of Dan Aykroyd discussing the paranormal hilariously serious, which led many to believe it was a joke. But in October of 2008 these beautifully intoxicating crystal skull vodka bottles hit select markets and sold out.

Now if you want one, you may have to get a second mortgage, sell your offspring into slavery, or return that missing girl you've been keeping in your basement for the reward money. I know, it's disappointing, but nothing good comes without a little sacrifice.

Man nails Claus to cross to protest commercialism of Christmas

BREMERTON, Wash. - Art Conrad has an issue with the commercialism of Christmas, and his protest has gone way beyond just shunning the malls or turning off his television.

The Bremerton resident nailed Santa Claus to a 15-foot crucifix in front of his house.

"Santa has been perverted from who he started out to be," Conrad said. "Now he's the person being used by corporations to get us to buy more stuff."

A photo of the crucified Santa adorns Conrad's Christmas cards, with the message "Santa died for your MasterCard."

The display is also Conrad's way of poking fun at political correctness. He believes people do not express their feelings because they are afraid of what other people might think.

His neighbors found the will to express their feelings this past week. Some were offended but many were just curious.

Jake Tally walked by on Friday and chuckled, but did not pretend to understand the message.

"I don't really know what to think. I know it's about God but Santa has nothing to do with it," he told the Kitsap Sun newspaper. - source

Drug traffickers target chopper, apparently mistaking it for police

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil - Not even Santa Claus is safe as the violent Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro celebrates the Christmas season.

Drug traffickers in a Rio slum opened fire on a helicopter carrying a Santa to a children's party, apparently mistaking it for a police helicopter, police said on Tuesday.

"They thought it was a police operation and started shooting. Luckily, nobody was hurt," a police official said.

The helicopter had to return to its base after the attack.

Two bullet holes were found in its fuselage.

Police said the pilot, contracted to take an actor dressed as Santa to the party in the Nova Mare slum, was flying over the neighboring Vila Joao shantytown when it was fired upon on Sunday.

Santa later returned to Nova Mare by car to distribute Christmas presents.

Most of Rio's 700-plus slums are controlled by drug traffickers and are not regularly patrolled by police, who instead go into the slums in military-style raids, often using helicopters and armored vehicles. - source

One evening last week, my girlfriend and I were getting into bed. Well,

EL DORADO, Kan. - A missing Kansas college student believed to be the victim of foul play apparently led a double life as an Internet porn star by the name of Zoey Zane.

Nude photos of 18-year-old Emily Sander appeared on a Zoey Zane Web site before she vanished, and investigators are looking into whether her modeling had anything to do with her disappearance last Friday.

“She enjoyed it. She is a young teenage girl and she wanted to be in the movies and enjoyed movies. She needed the extra money,” Nikki Watson, a close friend of Sander’s at Butler Community College, told The Associated Press on Wednesday. “Nobody in El Dorado knew besides her close friends.”

Sander’s brother, Jacob Sander, confirmed that the nude woman pictured on the site is his sister.

‘Apparently involved in a Web site situation’

El Dorado Police Chief Tom Boren said FBI and state experts on Internet crime have been called in.

“Investigators are aware that Miss Sander was apparently involved in a Web site situation,” he said. “Allegations that this may factor into her disappearance are being thoroughly investigated.”

Sander was last seen leaving a bar in El Dorado, about 30 miles from Wichita, with a man identified as Israel Mireles, 24, authorities said. Sander and Mireles had met that night at the bar, according to Watson.

After Mireles did not show up Saturday at his job at an Italian restaurant, his employer went to the motel room where he was staying.

“His motel room was found to appear in great disarray and a large quantity of blood was found in the room,” Boren said. “Bed clothing was found to be missing. The police were called.”

Manhunt under way

A nationwide manhunt was under way for Mireles and his 16-year-old girlfriend. A rental car he had been driving turned up Tuesday in Texas, where he had family. On Tuesday, authorities released a photo of a white bedspread with a floral design and asked for the public’s help in locating it.

“Our hopes kind of diminish each day we don’t hear from her,” the police chief said Wednesday.

Sander recently signed a contract for the pornographic work on the Web site, and told her parents about it on Thanksgiving, Watson said. Her boyfriend broke up with her because he did not approve, Watson said.

Sander’s grandmother, Shirley Sander, said: “What you are telling me now is things we have never been told or heard. I don’t know what to say. We have never heard anything like this and truthfully I don’t believe it.”

The company listed as the domain registrant for the Web site lists a Wichita address. Its administrator did not immediately return a call for comment. The site domain record shows the site was created in April.

‘Emily did not want anybody to know’

Watson said she does not believe Sander’s pornography work had anything to do with the disappearance.

“Nobody even knew about this until one of our close friends came out and told everybody because Emily did not want anybody to know,” Watson said.

The brown-haired, blue-eyed Sander was last seen wearing low-rider jeans and a “Don’t Mess With Texas” T-shirt. She has tattoos and body piercings.

Twice on the same day, unlucky animals sabotage wires in 2 Midwest cities

ASHLAND, Wis. - It was an unlucky day for two squirrels and hundreds of Midwestern power customers.

Brian Elwood, a spokesman for Xcel Energy, said a squirrel came in contact with an overhead transformer and knocked out service to 177 customers Monday. Power was fully restored in just under an hour, and repair crews found the remains of the "unfortunate squirrel," he said.

By coincidence, another squirrel got into a substation 40 miles away in Ironwood, Mich., Monday morning and caused a temporary outage that affected about 1,400 customers in Ironwood and two nearby communities, Elwood said.

The utility takes many preventive steps to keep the curious animals away from lines, he said, but they are one of the leading causes of outages, trailing only severe weather.

"We kind of liken it to anyone who's had a bird feeder and tried to keep the squirrels out," he said. "They find a way."

Rodney Johnson was stuck on an elevator at the city's Enterprise Center, where he works, when the power went out.

"For a couple of minutes there, I wasn't sure if I'd make it to Thanksgiving," said Johnson, who said he is somewhat claustrophobic. "They kept talking to me while they were trying to open it up, though, so that helped."

Once a firefighter opened the door, Johnson wasted no time in getting out.

I've been saying it for years now: MySpace will be the downfall of civilization. But not because MySpace is the devil, but because it gives people better access to eachother. And people are stupid.

The parents of a 13-year-old Missouri girl who hanged herself after a failed MySpace romance — later uncovered as a hoax — say they have yet to receive an apology from the family they blame for their daughter’s death.

“They’ve absolutely offered no apologies,” Ron Meier told TODAY co-host Matt Lauer on Monday. “They sent us a letter in the mail, basically saying that they might feel a little bit of responsibility, but they don’t feel no guilt or remorse or anything for what they did.”

Rather, said Tina Meier, the people are upset with her for going public with their story. Last week, while shopping, she ran into the woman who invented the hoax, Tina Meier said.

“She asked me to stop doing all of this,” she told Lauer. “I told her that we would not stop, that we were going to continue for justice for Megan because we knew what they did.”

The Meiers’ daughter, Megan, hanged herself Oct. 16, 2006.

The Meiers have not named the people because they do not want to identify their teenage daughter, who had once been a friend of Megan’s.

After the two girls had a falling out, the mother invented a 16-year-old boy, “Josh Evans,” created a MySpace account for him, and made Megan believe he was new in town and thought she was cool.

‘Oh, Mom, you don’t understand’

Megan, a girl who had battled attention deficit disorder, depression and a weight problem for much of her young life, believed him, despite her mother’s warnings to be cautious.

“That was always the talk,” Tina Meier told Lauer, repeating the conversations she had with her daughter: “‘Megan, c’mon, we don’t even know this person. Let’s not get too excited.’ She’d say, ‘Oh, Mom, you don’t understand.’ So I did talk to her daily about that. But children at this age, they don’t think that.”

And then the boy turned on Megan, leading a campaign of vilification and online name-calling that ended when Megan took her own life.

For a year, the Meiers kept quiet at the request of both the FBI and local law enforcement officials while they investigated the incident.

Ultimately, investigators told the Meiers that while the hoax was cruel, it was not criminal.

‘Continue to monitor your children’

The case remains open, though, and the Meiers continue to hope that criminal charges can be filed under a federal law passed in January 2006 that prohibits online harassment.

“We are still continuing on with the fight on the criminal and the civil side,” said Ron Meier.

The family’s story is, Tina Meier told Lauer, a cautionary tale about the trouble that lies in wait for kids on the Internet, a tale made more painful because they had monitored their daughter’s Internet use closely and had talked to her about “Josh” and the events that ended so tragically.

“It was monitored highly,” Tina Meier said of her daughter’s MySpace account. “We had the password. She couldn’t sign on without us. We had to be in the room” when she was online.

They have not filed a civil suit against the people who invented Josh, but are not ruling that out.

And they also want to warn other parents and children to beware of people online who claim to be their friends.

“Continue to monitor your children,” Tina Meier told Lauer. “Take an extra step. Ask the question. Look at their computers, know what they’re doing. To kids, don’t trust anybody online that you do not know is your true friend.”

Tina Meier has said that she doesn’t think anyone involved intended for her daughter to kill herself.

‘Absolutely vile’

”But when adults are involved and continue to screw with a 13-year-old, with or without mental problems, it is absolutely vile,” she told the Suburban Journals of Greater St. Louis, which first reported on the case.

Tina Meier said law enforcement officials told her the case did not fit into any law. But sheriff’s officials have not closed the case and pledged to consider new evidence if it emerges.

Megan Meier was described as a “bubbly, goofy” girl who loved spending time with her friends, watching movies and fishing with her dad.

Megan had been on medication, but had been upbeat before her death, her mother said, after striking up a relationship on MySpace with Josh Evans about six weeks before her death.

Josh told her he was born in Florida and had recently moved to the nearby community of O’Fallon. He said he was home-schooled, and didn’t yet have a phone number in the area to give her.

Megan’s parents said she received a message from him on Oct. 15 of last year, essentially saying he didn’t want to be her friend anymore, that he had heard she wasn’t nice to her friends.

Megan seemed upset

The next day, as Megan’s mother headed out the door to take another daughter to the orthodontist, she knew Megan was upset about Internet messages. She asked Megan to log off. Users on MySpace must be at least 14, though Megan was not when she opened her account. A MySpace spokeswoman did not return calls seeking comment.

Someone using Josh’s account was sending cruel messages. Then, Megan called her mother, saying electronic bulletins were being posted about her, saying things like “Megan Meier is a slut. Megan Meier is fat.”

Megan’s mother, who monitored her daughter’s online communications, returned home and said she was shocked at the vulgar language her own daughter was sending. She told her daughter how upset she was about it.

Megan ran upstairs, and her father, Ron, tried to tell her everything would be fine. About 20 minutes later, she was found in her bedroom. She died the next day.

Her father said he found a message the next day from Josh, which he said law enforcement authorities have not been able to retrieve. It told the girl she was a bad person and the world would be better without her, he has said.

Another parent, who learned of the MySpace account from her own daughter, who had access to the Josh profile, told Megan’s parents about the hoax in a counselor’s office about six weeks after Megan died. That’s when they learned Josh was imaginary, they said.

Creator of fake account not charged

The woman who created the fake profile has not been charged with a crime. She allegedly told the St. Charles County Sheriff’s Department she created Josh’s profile because she wanted to gain Megan’s confidence to learn what Megan was saying about her own child online.

The mother from down the street told police that she, her daughter and another person all typed and monitored the communication between the fictitious boy and Megan.

A person who answered the door at the family’s house told an Associated Press reporter on Friday afternoon that they had been advised not to comment.

Megan’s parents had been storing a foosball table for the family that created the MySpace character. Six weeks after Megan’s death, they learned the other family had created the profile and responded by destroying the foosball table, dumping it on the neighbors’ driveway and encouraging them to move away.

Megan’s parents are now separated and plan to divorce.

Aldermen in Dardenne Prairie, a community of about 7,000 residents about 35 miles from St. Louis, have proposed a new ordinance related to child endangerment and Internet harassment. It could come before city leaders on Wednesday.

Tree man 'who grew roots' may be cured

An Indonesian fisherman who feared that he would be killed by tree-like growths covering his body has been given hope of recovery by an American doctor - and Vitamin A.

Dede, now 35, baffled medical experts when warty "roots" began growing out of his arms and feet after he cut his knee in a teenage accident.

The welts spread across his body unchecked and soon he was left unable to carry out everyday household tasks.

Sacked from his job and deserted by his wife, Dede has been raising his two children - now in their late teens - in poverty, resigned to the fact that local doctors had no cure for his condition.

To make ends meet he even joined a local "freak show", parading in front of a paying audience alongside victims of other peculiar diseases.

Although supported by his extended family, he was often a target of abuse and ridicule in his rural fishing village.

But now an American dermatology expert who flew out to Dede's home village south of the capital Jakarta claims to have identified his condition, and proposed a treatment that could transform his life.

After testing samples of the lesions and Dede's blood, Dr Anthony Gaspari of the University of Maryland concluded that his affliction is caused by the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), a fairly common infection that usually causes small warts to develop on sufferers.

Dede's problem is that he has a rare genetic fault that impedes his immune system, meaning his body is unable to contain the warts.

The virus was therefore able to "hijack the cellular machinery of his skin cells", ordering them to produce massive amounts of the substance that caused the tree-like growths known as "cutaneous horns" on his hands and feet.

Dede's counts of a key type of white blood cell are so low that Dr Gaspari initially suspected he may have the Aids virus.

But tests showed he did not, and it became clear that Dede's immune condition was something far rarer and more mysterious.

Warts aside, he had enjoyed remarkable good health throughout his life - which would not be expected of someone with a suppressed immune system - and neither his parents nor his siblings have shown signs of developing lesions.

"The likelihood of having his deficiency is less than one in a million," Dr Gaspari told the Telegraph.

Dr Gaspari, who became involved in the case through a Discovery Channel documentary, believes that Dede's condition can be largely cleared up by a daily doses of a synthetic form of Vitamin A, which has been shown to arrest the growth of warts in severe cases of HPV.

"He won't have a perfectly normal body but the warts should reduce in size to the point where he could use his hands," Dr Gaspari said.

"Over the course of three to six months the warts should be come smaller and fewer in number. He will be living a more normal life."

The most resilient warts could then be frozen off and the growths on his hands and feet surgically removed.

Dr Gaspari hopes to get the necessary drugs free of charge from pharmaceutical firms. They would then be administered by Indonesian doctors under his supervision.

Still intrigued by the origins of Dede's peculiar immune condition, the doctor would like to fly him to the United States for further examination, but fears the financial and bureaucratic barriers would prove too difficult to overcome.

"I would like to bring him to the US to run tests on where his immune condition has come from, but I would need funding and to get him a visa as well as someone to cover the costs of the tests," he said.

Spawn of the Jersey Devil Found

Just in time for Halloween, we present to you The Thing That Came from the Attic.

The unholy demon creature was pulled out of the Crowleytown Schoolhouse in Mullica Township by Doug Laubert, who hasn't the slightest idea of what it is.

"The general consensus is that maybe it's a deformed flying squirrel," Laubert said of the freakish mummy-thing. "Maybe it's a salamander - but it has hair! Maybe it's a chipmunk - but it has a fish tail! When I first saw it, I thought it was a mudskipper - but it has teeth!"

All he knows is that mysterious crypto-creature was found in an area where no one has set foot for at least 30 years. He had punched a hole in a panel to run some TV cable through it, and there it was in all of its glory.

He and his family have thought up some names for the ungodly fish-being, among them "The Spawn of the Jersey Devil" and his nephew's suggestion, "Herman the Vermin."

Press nature columnist Kevin Post chimed in that "Herman" could be a dried up mudpuppy, until he saw the hair and teeth. Other suggestions thrown around included some kind of bat, a rodent, or the Fiji Mermaid.

Whatever it is, Laubert - who, incidentally, is on the ballot next week for a spot as a Mullica committeeman - plans to preserve the tiny gremlin-corpse forever. It will take its place of honor in his collection, he said, next to a dead cat with a glass eye named "Sammy."

So if you see something like this in your own home, whether it's slowly crawling along your floor or simply creeping unseen into your bed in the middle of the night, just try not to look directly into its eyes.

Cannibal Kills And Eats His Girlfriend

A man has been arrested in Mexico on suspicion of murdering and dismembering his girlfriend and eating parts of her.

Police sent to the home of Jose Luis Calva say they discovered a woman's torso in a cupboard, leg in the fridge and bones in a cereal carton.

They are also reported to have discovered the draft of an unfinished novel, titled Cannibal Instincts.

Mr Calva is now also being investigated in connection with the disappearances of an ex-girlfriend and a prostitute.

Police were called to Mr Calva's apartment in central Mexico City on Monday after neighbours reported a bad smell.

There they discovered the remains of his girlfriend, Alejandro Galeano, a 30-year-old pharmacy worker and mother of two. She had been reported missing by her family on Friday.

Police are said to be investigating whether chunks of meat found in a frying pan in the apartment are human.

Mr Calva was injured as he tried to escape and is now in hospital.

He has told police he is an aspiring horror writer and poet.

In initial interrogations he also confessed to being an admirer of the British actor Anthony Hopkins, who plays a cannibal in the film Silence of the Lambs, reported the news agency Efe.

Police say they are now investigating the possibility of links with previous murders. The mutilated body of a former girlfriend, Veronica Consuelo Martinez, was discovered in 2004, and body parts of a prostitute were found in plastic bags on a street in the north of Mexico City earlier this year. - source

GAUHATI, India - Six Asiatic wild elephants were electrocuted as they went berserk after drinking rice beer in India's remote northeast, a wildlife official said Tuesday.

Nearly 40 elephants came to a village on Friday looking for food. Some found beer, which farmers ferment and keep in plastic and tin drums in their huts, said Sunil Kumar, a state wildlife official.

They got drunk, uprooted a utility pole carrying power lines and were electrocuted in Chandan Nukat, a village nearly 150 miles west of Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya state, Kumar said.

"There would have been more casualties had the villagers not chased them away," said Dipu Mark, a local conservationist.

The elephants are known to have a taste for rice beer brewed by tribal communities in India's northeast. Four wild elephants died in similar circumstances in the region three years ago.

India's northeast accounts for the world's largest concentration of wild Asiatic elephants with the states of Assam and Meghalaya alone estimated to have 7,000 of them.

"It's great to have such a huge number of elephants, but the increasing man-elephant conflict following the shrinkage in their habitat due to the growing human population is giving us nightmares," said Pradyut Bordoloi, a former forest and environment minister for Assam. - source

But then, when mentalshed.com expired earlier this year, it seemed pretty much over. Due to the high pagerank I worked my ass off to achieve, the registrar reclaimed the domain and demanded a high price for re-registration. The Mental Shed was my only form of income, and I couldn't afford it.

However, more pretty little things are in the works and the Mental Shed will live again at www.mentalshedrecords.com with a somewhat different format and purpose.

Among other things that I can't divulge just yet.

But what I can tell you is this entirely unrelated and insignificant bit right here:

Inspired by a picture of my girl's sweet ass at the window of room number 1221 at the Circus Circus hotel/casino during our stay in Las Vegas back in July, I made this the other day:

The Most Horrific EVP Ever Recorded

IN JANUARY, 2007, the Central New York Ghost Hunters (CNYGH), based in Syracuse, New York, were invited to investigate an old hotel in upstate New York. (The owners of the hotel have asked to keep its location confidential.) The investigation proved to be one of the most intensely active the group has ever encountered, and produced an EVP – an electronic voice phenomena recording – that is remarkable not only for its length, but also for its terrifying content.

It may well be the most intense, frightening EVP ever recorded.

THE INVESTIGATION

On that weekend in January, CNYGH founder Stacey Jones and several members of the group went to the hotel on an overnight stay for what they thought would be a routine investigation. They had no idea what they were in for.

Originally built in the late 1800s, the building was in its colorful history the site of some nefarious activity, a fact that might be key to what is heard in the EVP.

On Friday night, Stacey and her group set up their equipment – audio recorders, video recorders and other electronics – and settled in, hoping to document some evidence for the haunting the owners had claimed. Most investigations are relatively quiet, but this night was filled with paranormal activity, including muffled voices of unknown origin, footsteps from unseen bodies and more. Members of the group I spoke with confirmed that it was the most active haunting they had personally experienced.

The real shocker came the next day. On Saturday afternoon at about 3 p.m., two female CNYGH investigators and a member of the owner's family (also a female) sat on the staircase of the hotel with a digital voice recorder, intending to capture some EVP. They chose the stairway because they had heard soft conversations and footsteps on the floor above, although no one was up there.

When they later played the recording back, however, what they heard were not soft voices and footsteps, but something totally unexpected and completely terrifying.

THE EVP: WHAT YOU'LL HEAR

Stacey Jones describes what you'll hear on the recording:

"You can [faintly] hear the three females talking throughout the recording. You will hear a female – the family member – say, 'Hello, baby,' and another long conversation. Those are all human voices. But what sounds like a struggle or attack is going on as well.

"The male [voice] you hear was not present at the hotel. You will hear a cuckoo clock (which was not present) a ticking of a hall clock (which was there); you will hear what sounds like the microphone being moved (which was not touched) and then the sound becomes clearer.

"You will hear a creaking door and slamming of the door, which is real. Then you will hear a [unknown] woman say, 'Get off me,' and what sounds like the woman being attacked. The struggle continues for awhile, and during the EVP you can hear some of my investigators' conversations. After interviewing my investigators, they said they went and sat on the stairs of this hotel, because they heard from an above floor, what sounded like footsteps and conversations, not what you hear on this recording. When the noises stop, you hear the investigators participate in a lulled conversation. They stated that they started to talk when the noises stopped. In their conversation, you will hear a male voice say, 'Help me' several times."
